Top Ijebu-ode furniture maker & businessman, Otunba Tola Okuneye
aka Ajagajigi was assassinated yesterday morning April 6th inside his church, the
Saint John Anglican Church Oke-Sepin in Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State.
Ten men stormed the church while service was going on, approached the 70 year old man and shot him point blank in the head several times. They left in two vehicles.
The incident which threw the church into a state of pandemonium, happened in less than 5 minutes. The man is said to be in court with some former business associates.
Meanwhile Ogun State Gvernor, Ibikunle Amosun, has vowed to make sure those behind Otunba Okuneye's murder are brought to book, while the Ogun State Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, while confirming the tragic incident, said investigation had commenced to unravel the reason behind the murder.
Otunba Okuneye is survived by six wives and 20 children.
