Female passenger struck by LIGHTNING on the tarmac after walking off plane that was diverted due to stormy weather

A female passenger was struck by lightning after walking off a plane.
The incident happened at Columbia Metropolitan Airport in South Carolina when a U.S. Airways flight was forced to make an emergency landing there due to bad weather.
The plane flew out of Hartford, Connecticut, and was destined for Charlotte, North Carolina.

The woman injured by the lightning strike was taken to Lexington Medical Center, where her condition was described as stable.
Speaking to The State, airport spokeswoman Kaela Harmon described the incident as a 'freak accident,' adding: 'It is truly the most random thing I have ever heard.'
