10 Greatest WWE superstars of all time - Slide 3 of 11:Stone Cold Steve Austin

There hasn’t been anything in WWE that could replace the Attitude Era and it still remains as the most loved period that WWE went through. But if there is a wrestler who is synonymous with Attitude Era, it has to be Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Austin came into the wrestling business with a truck load of charisma which landed him up in WCW. However, Eric Bischoff didn’t see any potential in Austin and soon fired him through phone.
An enraged Steve Austin was a free agent who was quickly snatched by Paul Heyman. Paul E gave Austin to let go of his frustrations on live TV at ECW and Austin was developing a character which served as the big draw of Attitude Era.
His promos in ECW soon earned him a WWE contract and Austin made it big by winning the 1996 King of the Ring and giving the famous Austin 3:16 speech. He continued to evolve over the year and as the Attitude Era kicked off, Austin ended up being the ultimate rebel.
He feuded with Vince McMahon which was the top story in the Attitude Era and gave many memorable moments including him stunning the boss. Austin also had great feuds with Bret Hart, Rock and many more but it was a match with Owen Hart that cut short his wrestling career.
A botched Piledriver from Owen broke Austin’s neck and it forced him to retire in 2003. Austin later went on a career at Hollywood and was inducted into the Hall of fame in 2009.
