Official: Marcelo extends Real Madrid contract

The Brazil international has committed his future to Los Blancos for the next five seasons

Real Madrid have announced that defender Marcelo has signed a new contract binding him to the Santiago Bernabeu until 2020. The Brazil international still had three years to run on his previous deal with Los Blancos but has now decided to extend his stay in the Spanish capital for an additional two seasons. Marcelo joined Madrid from Fluminense in January 2007 and has long since established himself as the club's first-choice left-back. The 27-year-old has won four Liga titles during his time at the Bernabeu, while he also played a key role in the 2014 Champions League triumph, scoring a goal in the final against Atletico Madrid.
