Bobbi Kristina Brown’s autopsy results were released by the Fulton County Medical Examiner on Friday morning, revealing her death was caused by drug intoxication and immersion in water. The report was released on what would have been Bobbi Kristina's 23rd birthday.
The statement from the medical examiner's office said: "The underlying cause of death is the condition which starts the downhill course of events leading to death and in this case is the immersion associated with drug intoxication."
The Fulton County Medical Examiner's testing revealed Bobbi Kristina died due to "Immersion of face in water complicating mixed drug intoxication."
The drugs found in her system included marijuana, alcohol, a cocaine-related substance called benzoylecgonine, benzodiazepines (prescription anti-anxiety meds) and morphine. The medical examiner was unable to determine if the morphine in her system was a result of heroin use.
The medical referred to Brown's death as "undetermined". The investigation is still underway to determine if Bobbi's death was a suicide, murder or accidental.
The 22-year-old daughter of singers Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown was found face-down and unresponsive in a bathtub in her Atlanta town home on Jan. 31, 2015, and died under hospice care July 26.
An autopsy was performed following her tragic death last year, but the result were sealed until today. The Fulton County Superior Court judge ruled that the autopsy report should be unsealed on Thursday.
