*GASP* The whispers about Empire's Bryshere Gray are 100% TRUE!


Fans of "Empire" can't help but like the fame-hungry aspiring rapper Bryshere Gray aka Yazz the Greatest, who plays the role of Hakeem on the popular show. We dug up a few facts you may not know about the actor and rapper!

Bryshere revealed he was down on his luck just before he landed on a role on "Empire."  He said, "I'm from West Philadelphia. Before I got the Empire gig, I was broke and I was about to get evicted and I got this job and I got this audition with Terrence and Taraji at the same time and it changed my life."

Gray, who plays Terrence Howard's youngest and favorite son on the show, revealed he had to rap on his iPhone thrugh Facetime to land the acting gig. Bryshere's role on "Empire" is his first acting job.

The newbie says of his acting, "My acting abilities are not that developed yet...TV and film will make you grow fast. Things I'm learning now I was taught in high school but wasn't interested in it then but it's catching my interest now...like learning scripts. The script is given to you the day of and you have to remember your lines fast, there's no time to mess up. You gotta wake up mentally prepare yourself you gotta be ready for that." Bryshere has a music background, with most fans knowing him as Yazz the Greatest. He has performed previously at the annual Roots Picnic Festival, Jay Z's 2013 Man in America Festival, and has previously opened for Fabolous and 2 Chainz in the past. Gray is great at making pizza! The actor reveals, "I was rapping trying to pursue my career and working at Pizza Hut. I make the best cheese pizza. It's all about the sauce."

Bryshere says his personality is totally different from his character of Hakeem. He explained, "I’m not like Hakeem at all. Of course, the swag is still there though."
