Charlize Theron displays her lean and leggy figure in striking swimwear shoot

Hers has been a career littered with accolades and awards, but Charlize Theron insists international fame means significantly less than her relationship with fellow actor Sean Penn.

Oscar-winner Charlize, 39, was close friends with Penn prior to developing a romance with the reformed hell raiser in 2014 – since when he has directed her in forthcoming movie The Last Face.

Speaking to Elle UK - while posing in a glamorous set of shots in high-end swimwear, revealing her famously enviable figure - she admits the dividing line between personal and professional proved to be ambiguous while shooting the new film on location in South Africa, but had little impact on their rock solid bond.

Charlize, a mother of one to son Jackson – who she adopted in 2012 – also praised Penn, her first serious partner following her separation from actor-director Stuart Townsend.

She added: 'Putting aside that he's my partner, he's the love of my life. For the first time I felt my work was bleeding into my life and that made it hard.'
