The singer had 1998 inked onto her ankle, adding to her very extensive collection of body art.
It was done by Bang Bang, a tattoo artist favored by many A-list celebrities including Cara Delevingne, Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga. He later shared a picture of his work on his Instagram page.
Rihanna had earlier been pictured heading into the tattoo parlor in her New York neighborhood on Wednesday.
