There hasn’t been a full Aaliyah project since 2002’s posthumous album I Care 4 U. In August 2012, Drake announced that he and producer Noah “40” Shebib had been tapped by Blackground Records to produce an album from Aaliyah, but those plans were subsequently called off.
“I think the press got out of hand and they maybe had a different vision for it or something,” said Drake. “It was sounding great to me. Whatever they end up doing with it, I wish them the best of luck.”
