As he gears up for the Dec. 18 release of Royalty, Chris Brown stopped by “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” on Friday to discuss his new music and how his one-and-a-half-year-old daughter Royalty has changed him for the better.
“It’s actually great, it’s very humbling, and it’s very calming,” said Brown about fatherhood. “Being able to be a father and seeing my daughter from those gradual stages — from crawling, to walking, to saying words, to learning different things every day — is kind of teaching me patience and it’s been great.”
The 26-year-old singer, who spends two weeks with his daughter every month, enjoys spoiling her with jewelry and clothing. “She has a lot,” he admitted. “She has these suits I get her, these dope little animal suits. I dress her like a tomboy.”

Not only has Royalty inspired his new album, she also made him want to quit smoking cigarettes. “One habit I’m quitting for the New Year’s resolution is definitely smoking cigarettes,” said Brown, who started smoking around the time he went to rehab. “For my daughter to be a light in my life, I think this is something I need to get rid of.”
For every copy of Royalty sold between now and Christmas, he will donate $1 to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital and Best Buddies.
