Africa's Richest Man, Aliko Dangote still interested in acquiring Arsenal

Nigerian tycoon Aliko Dangote wants to buy English Premier League club Arsenal to boost the image of the country. In 2010, the billionaire attempted to purchase 15 percent stake in the Londoners from the fourth largest investor Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith but was unsuccessful. Dangote has been criticized by a section of the public back home for not investing in Nigerian clubs but he has maintained that he wants his business to be recognized globally. "The issue is that if I buy all the Nigerian clubs, the Nigerian flags will continue to remain here," Aliko Dangote said to Forbes. "Buying Arsenal will take the Nigerian flag worldwide. "Just like whenever Roman Abramovich is mentioned, the name of his country comes up. Everyone knows he's Russian." It is claimed that Aliko Dangote is worth in the region of £12.2 billion compared to Roman Abramovich, whose net worth is £5.8 billion.
