The Rivers State Police Command has killed three suspected kidnappers in Port Harcourt, the state capital, reports Punch.
The kidnappers were killed during a fierce gun battle while attempting to abduct one Richard Otu.
The kidnappers had trailed Otu to his residence and stopped him at the gate of his house located along East-West Road in Port Harcourt.
Ahmed Mohammed, the command’s spokesman, said a group of policemen, who were acting on a tip-off, raced to the place and began to shoot at the kidnappers in a bid to stop them from abducting Otu.
The kidnappers returned the gunshots and in the process lost three members of the gang.
